Your lungs are vital for a healthy life.

Our doctors can help with your Respiratory ailments.

Cough

A persistent cough can be annoying and difficult to live with, and can be embarrassing when you’re in a meeting or talking to a friend.

Coughing could be a sign of something wrong with your lungs. Perhaps an infection, or scarring on your lungs, or even a problem with your nasal airway. Worse still – it may be a sign that something much more sinister could be brewing.

Don’t leave your cough for too long – we have the right Medical Specialist who can order the right tests for you. Your Specialist Physician will also see you at our Adelaide clinic, and tend to your sleep and respiratory (lung) needs.

Call us now and we’ll see what we can do about that cough.

Wheeze

Wheezing is usually a sign of your airways being tighter than what they normally are. The commonest cause of a wheeze is asthma, and asthma comes in many forms. It can affect all age groups, and can come and go quickly.

When coupled with poor breathing and shortness of breath (dyspnoea), it can limit a child's growth, a parent's ability to care for their family, an adult's independence, an athlete's peak performance.

There are many other medical conditions that can also cause wheezing. If you're worried about your wheeze and would like to know more, let us know and we'll look into it for you. See us at our Adelaide respiratory and sleep clinic now.

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is a dreadful condition that usually results from cigarette smoking. It can also occur in a small number of people who have had little or no cigarette smoke exposure, and with some other medical conditions.

The symptoms of Lung cancer include a cough that won't go away, bringing up blood (haemoptysis), loss of weight, and breathing difficulties.

Lung cancer is diagnosed by Lung Physicians and Respiratory Specialists, and an early diagnosis could mean an early treatment program. At our centre we have the right Medical Specialist for you. If you'd like to know more, speak to us now and call us on the above number.

Emphysema

Emphysema is one of the main consequences of prolonged cigarette smoking. It is the breakdown of the small air sacs (alveoli) in your lungs, making the overall surface area of your lungs much less than before smoking. Following this your lungs have a reduced ability to transfer oxygen, and you then develop breathlessness.

Emphysema is diagnosed and managed by those who Specialise in Lung Disorders. A consultation followed by thorough Lung Function Testing will help find out the cause of your shortness of breath, and guide treatment following this.

An early diagnosis of emphysema could delay and perhaps slow down any further damage to your lungs. Don't delay your diagnosis – see one of our specialists now at our Centre.

Lung Function Testing

A tradesman is only as good as his tools, and the tool to measure your lungs is known as Lung Function Testing.

Lung Function Testing involves measuring the volume of air you breath in and out, and the ability of your lungs to move this volume of air. Extended lung function testing involves measuring the ability of your lungs to transfer oxygen through your lungs and into your blood stream, and then measuring the pressures inside of your chest wall and lungs themselves.

The ability to look at your lungs' function can help your Lung Specialist determine your underlying lung condition and treat it accordingly.

If you'd like to enquire more about testing your lung function, call us now and make an appointment.
